The Bengals put Burfict on the injured reserve list on Tuesday, ending a season cut short by concussions and knee surgery.

Burfict was the Bengals' leading tackler in each of the past two seasons and made the Pro Bowl last season. He missed two full games and parts of others early in the season after getting two concussions. He had surgery to clean out his left knee on Oct. 29 and never got healthy enough to play again. Burfict started only five games and had 29 tackles.

Inactive for the Bengals was Burfict, who was out for the fourth straight game after knee surgery.

Vincent Ray will start in his place.

Burfict is back in the starting lineup Sunday in a pivotal AFC North game against the Baltimore Ravens.

A strained neck limited him in practice during the week. He's missed two games because of concussions.

The $25,000 fine assessed to Cincinnati linebacker Vontaze Burfict was confirmed Friday by the NFL.

Burfict was fined for twisting an opponent's leg twice after the play was over in the third and fourth quarters of a 37-37 tie with Carolina. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and tight end Greg Olsen were the victims. The fine was reported by The Associated Press earlier this week.

Burfict is inactive Sunday night against New England.

Burfict is missing his second straight game after suffering a concussion.

Burfict is expected back this week from his second concussion of the season.

When healthy, Burfict is a solid fantasy option in IDP leagues.

Burfict has been diagnosed with more concussion symptoms.

Burfict will have to pass tests to be eligible to play Sunday.

Burfict is active and in the starting lineup against the Atlanta Falcons, giving the Cincinnati Bengals a huge boost.

The Pro Bowl linebacker suffered a concussion during Cincinnati's season-opening win at Baltimore last Sunday. He had to pass the concussion protocol tests to be ruled eligible.

Burfict has left Sunday's game against the Ravens with a concussion.

The play occurred late in the first half when Burfict hit his head while putting pressure on quarterback Joe Flacco. He left the field after a short delay and was declared out for the game early in the third quarter.

Burfict has signed a three-year contract extension through 2017 that will pay him a maximum of $20.05 million. Burfict agreed to the deal last week. He was entering the final year on his deal. Under his extension, he'll make $10 million through next summer in salary and bonuses.

Burfict is making $570,000 in the final year of his original deal with Cincinnati, which took a minimal risk and signed him as an undrafted free agent from Arizona State in 2012.
