Delmas has signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins that's worth up to $3.5 million.
Miami also released cornerback Dimitri Patterson on Monday. Patterson was plagued by injuries the past two seasons, and his departure frees up more than $5 million in salary-cap space. Delmas spent the past five seasons with the Detroit Lions, who released him last month. He's expected to replace Chris Clemons, who can become a free agent Tuesday. Delmas started 15 games in 2013 and had a career-high three interceptions. The South Florida native was a second-round draft pick who made 64 starts for the Lions.
