Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers says he doesn't know if he's going to need surgery on his ailing back now that the Chargers' season is over. Says Rivers: "I can't rule it out but it's too early to know."
Late in the season, reports surfaced that Rivers had a bulging disc in his lower back. Rivers wouldn't confirm or deny it Monday, but added that "it's not exactly accurate." Rivers says talking about injuries "does no good. It's self-serving. ... My injuries had nothing to do with whether I threw it good or threw it bad." Rivers was sacked seven times Sunday and threw two interception as the Chargers were knocked out of playoff contention in a 19-7 loss at Kansas City.
