On Monday I was able to catch some of the men practicing for the World Figure Skating Championships in London, Ont. As always, I
was reminded of the speed they so easily carry across the ice. This could be a men's event to remember.

series, or as I like to call it, 'The Showdown at the Sochi Corral',
more formally known as The Iceberg Skating Palace.Seriously, I can't think of too many arenas in the world with a better name than that for an ice-skating competition.

The Grand Prix season is about to kick off with Skate America and then
the skating fans will have something to sink their teeth into. Young
skaters making a charge and old... oops, I mean, veteran skaters making a
comeback. (I should talk!). Yes, if you love skating then this is a fun
time of year. Before we get into all of the conversations about what
coach and a new program and an old outfit and bad skates and so on and
so on, I want to just visit the jumps alone.

Evgeni Plushenko and I have something in common.I wish it was
our triple Axel, or the fact that we both carry combs, but I'm thinking
more along the lines of we're both trying to come back to competition.

Kurt Browning returns to the world of competitive skating
It has been a while since Kurt Browning, one of Canada's greatest skaters, has competed in an official ISU event, but that is about to change. He's bringing back the famous routine he performed for CBC-TV, Singing in The Rain, to compete against some of the best in the world.

Kurt Browning is one of Canada’s greatest figure skaters. During his stellar career, he won four men’s world titles (1989, ’90, ’91 and ’93) and competed in three Olympic Games. At the 1988 world championships, he became the first skater to land a verified quad jump in competition. Born and raised in Alberta, Kurt now lives in Toronto. He was co-host of the hit CBC show Battle of the Blades.
