Beginning of Story Content

If you're a true hockey fan, there is no sweeter sight than the red goal light as your favourite team scores. You jump up in celebration the second the siren goes off, whether you're watching the game at the rink or on your living room couch.

Budweiser Canada has created a product that works to bring this magic into your home.

While the concept is enough to get any hockey fan interested, the technology is what impresses me most. The authentic-looking goal light comes with the ability to connect with an app that you download for free on your iPhone or Android device. Using a Wi-Fi connection, the goal light is synched with your favourite team (or more than one if you can't decide) and every time they score a goal, the Budweiser Red Light will light up and sound off. You'll know exactly what you're missing if you're in the kitchen filling up on snacks or beverages, and you should be able to make it back in time to catch the replay.

As Canadians huddled around their televisions on Super Bowl Sunday, they were first introduced to Budweiser Red Lights in the product's debut TV spot. Within the hour, Budweiser Red Lights were sold out online. Since then, the story has evolved as Budweiser has introduced Ron Kovacs, the brand's official spokesperson and installer, who is traveling around the country spreading the excitement and delivering the lights.

The goal light continues to be so popular that it can take up to three months for it to arrive at your home, even when you pre-order it online at www.budweiser.ca.

Kovacs defines himself as a huge hockey fan who can still vividly remember the first time he scored a goal and saw the red goal light go off.  It's this memory that makes him so passionate about the Budweiser Red Lights Program.
