Werth has been convicted of reckless driving and sentenced to 10 days in jail for driving over 100 miles an hour on the Capital Beltway.

The 35-year-old Werth will have the option of appealing his conviction to Fairfax County Circuit Court. Werth batted .292 last season with 16 home runs and 82 RBIs in 147 games.

Werth went 3 for 4 in Saturday's 3-2 win at Miami.

Werth is batting .354 with three homers, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored in 14 games against the Marlins this year.

Werth will remain sidelined for at least a couple of days after receiving a cortisone injection for his sore right shoulder.
