The Seattle Mariners have made a qualifying offer to Morales that would pay him about $14 million for the 2014 season if he accepts the deal.
The Mariners announced they had made the offer on Monday afternoon. Morales has until Nov. 11 to accept or refuse the deal. If he refuses the one-year offer and becomes a free agent, whatever team signs Morales would have to surrender its pick in the first-round of the amateur draft to Seattle. Last season, his first with Seattle, Morales played in 156 games, hitting .277 with 23 homers and 80 RBIs. He also had 34 doubles and an on-base plus slugging percentage of .785.
