Michelle here. Back in August, there was some healthy debate over an article in Forbes by Kashmir Hill. It was all about HR departments deeming potential candidates suspicious if they didn't have a Facebook account. It also featured some interesting points from former Spark guest Farhad Manjoo of Slate, who has gone so far as to deem it suspicious if your romantic partner isn't on Facebook.
Now this isn't anything new, but it is one of those things that just won't go away. There's just something about the social currency of Facebook -in particular- that raises an eye when someone says they aren't on it. And I hate to admit it, but it's a double eye-arch for me if you were once on it, and then suddenly took your profile down. Mmm hmmm...what are you running from? Some of the other Sparkies disagree with this of course, and so even though it's an old debate, it still gets us all riled up here at Spark HQ.
That's why we're asking the question...Have you ever felt suspicious of someone because they aren't on Facebook? Why? Tell us your story by calling the Spark hotline at 1-877-34-SPARK or if you're shy, just leave us a comment here, or over on Twitter or Facebook. Unless, you're not on Facebook. In which case, I find you slightly suspicious.
