We often refer to people as "tech savvy" (or not), but we've been wondering what the term really means. After all, I might be an avid gamer, but not really understand anything about programming; you might know how to build a computer from parts, but not be very skilled at conducting an effective search. Is "tech savvy" a mindset? A myth? Or maybe it's about confidence and a willingness to explore.
I've been thinking about this because of a study I came across the other day, suggesting that students who are so-called "Digital Natives" are not necessarily very good at searching library resources. They overuse Google, and they aren't very good at Googling either.
