If you’re a regular listener to Spark, you’ve probably heard Bill St. Arnaud. Bill is an Ottawa-based green IT consultant, and he also runs an email newsletter that covers issues related to green IT. Recently, Bill wrote about a Berlin-based startup called Changers, which has developed a solar-powered gadget charger.
Solar-powered gadget chargers are nothing new, but Changers is different in that it’s trying to build a social network on top of lowering carbon emissions.
Last week, Nora interviewed Hans Raffauf from Changers, and Bill St. Arnaud. You can hear the full, uncut interviews below, or download the MP3. [runs 15:21]

Brilliant, looking forward to signing up in Canada. So sick of listening to people tell me 'its just a little power'.
I don't think I wouldt be able to go a day without my cell phone, phones are cheaper for the companies to produce and are getting more versatile, they are giving away phones if you apply for sign up for services. There is no way you could get a landline phone with that kind of deal . It's a phone, computer, camera, recorder, TV, presentatio device and best friend to many.
fascinating… I'd be truly lost without my satelite navigation device. Something that rests on the outside of the backpack would be clever! Perhaps even a jacket that you could plug your phone etc. into would be great!
It's a great idea when you go camping. In the city it's practically useless. The "carbon emission saving" twist is just a marketing tool.
Check the output of your iphone charger it's 5va or 5w. And you use it for an hour or less to a full charge. If you turn your lights off every time when you leave a room you'll save hundreds time more energy and pollute hundred times less.
Turn your desktop computer off for an hour and you save about60 charges worth of energy.
Yes to harnessing natural power ! I have lived with solar power and learnt to use less and still have quality of life.
