Ayesha Khanna
According to Ayesha Khanna, the end of the so-called “Information Age” is nigh.
Ayesha is the the director of the Hybrid Reality Institute, and she says we’re starting to enter a new age — the “Hybrid Age” — which is characterized by pervasive computing, biotechnology and nanotechnology, and “the emergence of technologies as a social actor.” That is, a time defined by our social interactions with the machines around us.
This week, Nora interviewed Ayesha Khanna about the hybrid age, and about another of Ayesha’s areas of expertise: smart cities. You can hear the full, uncut interview below, or download the MP3. [runs 32:15]

This is a nice sequel to your Happy Birthday Cyborg Spark 120,
Where you said the one of the first cyborgs was the pacemaker.
There were couple of news items recently which touch on this issue
related to what Ayesha said about cyborgs being
'absorbed within our own bodies …
bringing with it a number of complicated issues'.
Willow the cat made the trip from Boulder, Co to NYC and was returned
because of a micro chip. Cell phones are fitted with GPS,
why can't cats and dogs who go walkabout have one implanted.
There was a child abduction in Sparwood, BC; should we be biologically
outfitting our toddlers and daughters as well. With extreme limitations,
activations controls
and removal age decisions or volunteer adoption,
there are many ethical and logistic questions to ponder for sure.
Do we want to live with that kind of fear or attitude about society.
