This morning, Nora interviewed Daniel Pink, the author of Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us. In it, Dan talks about Motivation 3.0, an alternative to carrots and sticks.
A shorter version of this interview will air on Spark 109, but you can hear the full, uncut interview below, or download the MP3. [runs 26:33]

I love Dan PInk's work…find him clear, sensible, and very topical. My only problem was the distraction caused by the weird angle this clip was filmed from. Guests should be coached to refrain from waving their hands too close to the camera, and if they are wearing a bandage (too much bicycling, Dan?) then they should be encouraged to actually sit on their hands! Great book, great subject. Keep it up!
Great interview! I had a great forward thinking boss about 8 years ago who subscribed to the very notions being put forth here. Sigh, just what I needed, another GREAT book to add to my "to read" pile. Okay, DRIVE was already on my pile, but it just got moved to the top of the list. Thanks for this and all the great inteviews/content you produce each week.
I'm reading Pink's Drive and while I like the line of thinking and I'm a big proponent of intrinsic motivation it seems that he is glossing over other factors. People won't be motivated by a 'FedEx' day if they are at the same time overworked or distrust their boss.
We should be careful to think that Edward Deci's work can be translated into an instant fix in the workplace.
Regardless this is good work and it's nice to have a business book written in an entertaining style (for a change).
I would like to thank you for the actual efforts you have made within publishing this article. I’m hoping the same best work of your stuff in the future as well. Actually your fanciful composing abilities has advised me to start my very own blog now.
