You asked at the end of the show about an email sabbatical. I'm currently taking a blog sabbatical, after writing on my blog almost every day since October 2000:

But email isn't excluded from the process During that time, I'm trying to pare down the 1800+ messages in my Gmail inbox, unsubscribing from lists and notifications I don't really read, and so on.
But if I took on a full email sabbatical, I'd be completely overwhelmed when I got back, since I get at least 20 or 30 relatively useful messages a day, entirely excluding spam and such. My unsubscriptions will try to address that somewhat.
Some time ago I did declare email bankruptcy, and purge all old messages to start over. But it didn't take long to get back up to depressing speed again:

Wow, a blog sabbatical after nearly 9 years. How does it feel, Derek?
