Full Interview: Gary Hustwit on Objectified

Gary Hustwit

Yesterday, Nora interviewed documentary filmmaker Gary Hustwit, whose latest film is Objectified:

Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.

Nora and Gary talked about his film, sustainable design, design thinking, designed deterioration, and the stories that objects can tell. A shorter version of this interview will air on Episode 77 of Spark, but you can hear the full interview below, or download the MP3.
