Not long after this story broke, I was in Flordia and met someone who works at the school district. He certainly didn’t think the student acted out of line given that the phone number was accessible.
On another note, I’ve been involved with teachers who incorporate cellphones in their classrooms. While there are certainly some caveats, they’ve found the increased communication to far out weigh the negatives.
