One of the current buzz terms circulating about the future of the Internet, is the idea of the “3-D Web”, the idea that instead of the Web being a series of “pages” that you look up information on, it will be environments that you explore in virtual 3-D, with an avatar.
In this great article in Technology Review, for instance (registration req’d), the author imagines what might happen when mirror worlds like Google Earth meet fantasy landscapes like Second Life.
If you could walk into a website and explore it virtually, which site would it be? Roaming through Gros Morne national park online, perhaps, where your avatar climbs the peak? Or perhaps a next generation epicurious.com, where you wander a virtual kitchen looking at the dishes you can prepare? Let us know!
I am fascinated that in all the buzz about Second Live, nobody seems to have heard about Activeworlds. This was one of the original 3D chat worlds that was around 10 years ago! We met folks from all over the world there. We even sponsored a couple into our home-based network marketing business through Active Worlds.
While Active Worlds was in the initial development phases, it was free to use. Then, it cost $19.95 per year. We weren’t willing to continue at the time, when they bagan chargint 9.95 US per month. At that time, that was nearly $15.00 Canadian.
Has anyone seen the new way to make money with youtube? They make 200 videos for you, and guarentee you at least 20,000 views for your business. Check it out: http://budurl.com/feps
