What to do with your wet cell phone

This week on Spark, Nora tried putting a wet cell phone in dry rice to save it from a watery grave.

If you’re not into rice, Kevin Haffenden from Bongo Wireless offers the following steps:

  1. Remove the battery immediately. Do not try and power the phone on.
  2. Use a hair dryer on the phone. Try to dry it out as much as possible.
  3. Wait. Let it sit and dry naturally for several days.

That advice is good if you don’t need your phone for a few days and are able to wait patiently to see if it does turn on and work properly when it does.

I decided to take mine to the company where I bought it and get a loaner phone until they gave me a diagnosis on fixing the old one.

Coming close to two months now that I’ve been using the loaner phone mind you.
