The F Word
This week SoundXchange is brought to you by the letter F. It's not what you think! Well not exactly. We have a Fresh, heart-Felt, and inoFFensive poem from new to the X poet Karen Klassen, plus some Fab and Fun alt.country from Wyatt....Free Free to ...well stop in....
WYATT is a band that is quickly rising to the top of the Saskatchewan country music scene.
They released their debut album in 2007 and things took off immediately for them after that. For only the second time in the history of the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards WYATT took home both the Rising Star Award and Group of the Year. The band has gone on on to win Group of the Year every year since then, thus firmly establishing themselves as a band to be reckoned with. In 2010, they've attracted some national attention by being included in the Canadian Country Music Awards new artist showcase.
But WYATT's mixture of country and rock - in a similar vein to Doc Walker and Emerson Drive - is rockin' enough that music lovers who don't normally tune in to country music find themselves being infected by it's good energy.
This concert from Saskatoon's Odeon Event Centre is the CD release party for the band's second album 'If I Had a Dollar' which hit stores June 2010. This enthusiastic home town crowd, definitely sounded ready for it!
Karen Klassen was born and raised in Vancouver, B.C. Her journey to Saskatchewan has included stops in Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, and the Northern Mariana Islands. She now lives in Saskatoon with her husband and three children.
