This week, Socket is all about artists who focus on skin, or coverings. We check
out Vancouver artist Brian Jungen's big teepee, the one that's covered
in the same black leather that once covered couches from The Brick furniture
chain. We have ten saucy questions for Toronto artist Allyson Mitchell, maker
of the voluptuous Lady Sasquatch sculptures…which she describes as fun
fur plush pin-ups. Montreal's Kim Waldron explains why she took photos
of herself wearing men's work clothes. And Nicholas Fleming, also of Montreal,
gets down to the dirt during a visit to St. John's. He covers himself head
to toe in canvas, rolls around on the ground, and then—and only then - is
he ready to make a painting. That's this week on Socket, with your host
Angela Antle. Because when it comes to art, we've got it covered.

This week on Socket with Angela Antle, whimsy and wonder: Sonny Assu turns cereal boxes into political art--complete with a free plot of land in every box -- and stocks them on the shelves of a Vancouver grocery store. Colwyn Griffith, a Canadian living it up in New York City, recreates the Great Wall of China out of Rice Krispies. Toronto's Nurit Basin explains why her paintings of VW bugs don't want to play punch-buggy with anyone. And Toronto animator and visual artist Seth Scriver gives Socket exclusive insider information on how many thousand-dollar sock puppets he's sold.

Why is so much public art about private things? That’s the question Socket asks this week. You’ll meet Jessica Bushey of Vancouver, who takes snaps in ladies’ loos, then there’s Garnet Hertz who creates teeny, tiny video cameras for cockroaches. Also Judy Bowyer wants to take all your private worries away and Lisa Klapstock really, really wants to get a picture of that moldy old couch in your backyard.
It’s the radio show that plugs you into the private lives of Canada’s artists.

This week on Socket, Canadian artists explore the domestic realm. Join the radio host-ess with the most-ess Angela Antle, as she knits paint with Marianne Corless and crochets paper with Arounna Khounnoraj. Move your car so Todd Janes can iron his clothes in your parking space and see if kinetic artist Jeff Mann can make your tea strainer dance to his drum. Plus Newfoundland artists Will Gill, Elayne Greeley and Craig Francis Power square off in the debut episode of "Starving Artist/iron Chef."

“Is it Art?” Join host Angela Antle as she dares to ask the question on everyone’s lips. This week, Socket goes to “The Scent Bar” with Winnipeg artists Lori Millan and Shauna Dempsey to create a unique “Socket” fragrance. John Sasaki climbs a ladder to nowhere and Jillian McDonald inserts herself into Billy Bob Thornton’s cinematic oeuvre. And get your hand blender ready for a performance by Montreal’s Women With Kitchen Appliances (WWKA).

This week on Socket we 'deal with' the UBER artists. Join host Angela Antle as she plays cards with poker-face artist Kelly Mark and goes to the driving range with sports-obsessed Craig LeBlanc. Video art couple Duke and Battersby interview each other about their latest project and artist Shary Boyle performs live on stage with musician Christine Fellows and the results are magical.

Join host Angela Antle as she smashes city buses with the Sanchez Brothers, tastes Jess Dobkin's breast milk, almost gets taken over by old-time radio host Peanut Brittle, gets 'high' on collage art in NY with Paul Butler, professes undying love with Mark Clintberg, plays poker with Kelly Mark, irons clothes with 'ironman' Todd Janes, takes snaps in the ladies' loo with Jessica Bushey and sends a leather couch salesman out to stand in awe before Brian Jungen's black leather teepee.
