Growing Your Own Shiitake Mushrooms!

shiitake.jpegYou could be enjoying gourmet shiitake mushrooms grown in a shady corner of your backyard...provided you're ready to handle the spawn and nurture soggy logs! It's not your usual garden crop conversation but it's very much a part of farm life at the Falls Brook Centre in Knowlesville. They'll be sharing their fungus know-how at a workshop next month. Emily Shapiro is the organic gardens manager at the centre, and she's this week's Homegrown guest!
