Home Grown: Windy Hill Farm

windyhill.jpgAlyson Chisholm knows a lot about organic farming: 10 years experience as part of a cooperative farm in British Columbia -- and now three years on Windy Hill Farm, which she bought with her husband, Will Pedersen, in McKees Mills. Last year she decided to share what she knows in a four week course, and it was such a success she's doing it again next month!

Options for fresh, local salad ingredients can be a bit limited in February. Not so for Jenn Thomas! She grows 13 different kinds of sprouts right inside her house all year long. We speak with the owner of Shooting Sprouts in Taymouth.

Home Grown: VanDine's Beans

vandine.jpgBaked beans are a Saturday night staple in the province...Jacob's Cattle or yellow eye or soldier beans slow cooked in a crock in the oven! If you've bought dried beans over the last 39 years, you may well have bought them from Allan and Carolyn VanDine's farm in Red Bridge.
