Province Investing In and Suing Tobacco Companies

Rescue Falcon Takes Flight

falcon2.jpgfalcon.jpgA peregrine falcon chick rescued at the Hopewell Rocks was unable to fly. Naturalist Mary Majka adopted the chick and asked the Atlantic Wildlife Institute to help. Pam Novak is director of wildlife care and helped released the falcon to the wild this week.

PIs Resurrect Saint John Sex Abuse Case At City

Some Oland Warrants Released

Until this week official court documents with those kinds of details were ordered sealed by the judge. Ferguson Awarded Partial Legal Fees

Saint John city councillor John Ferguson won his case against the city's pension board. The board was suing Ferguson, saying he defamed the board with comments he made as a councillor. Three months later, a judge has decided to award partial legal fees to Ferguson, and noted he was very critical of the board. The CBC's Robert Jones has been following the case.

Cancer Society Urges Action on Drug Plan Promise

John Phillippe has a brain tumor and he's been told that Avastin could improve his quality of life and help him live longer. But it costs thousands of dollars a month. In most Canadian provinces Avastin is available through a catastrophic drug program. Premier David Alward promised to develop such a program, but so far no plan exists. Anne MacTiernan-Gamble of the Canadian Cancer Society of New Brunswick says that needs to change.

Norma Shearer's NB Connection
