Candidates:

  NDP: Bryan Barnes
  SASK: Donna Harpauer
  Liberal: Les Alm
  WIP: Ron Borys

Current MLA: Riding has been reconfigured. Donna Harpauer (Sask) is the MLA for Watrous. Arlene Jule (Sask) is the MLA for Humboldt.

Constituency Profile: Rural riding in north-central Sask, with an economy based primarily on mixed agriculture. Industries in Humboldt include Humboldt Flour Mills and the Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute. There are four Potash mines in this riding: Central Canada Potash Mine at Colonsay and the PCS Lanigan, Allan Lake and Patience Lake. There is also an ethanol plant at Lanigan. Agriculture is the major employer -- the Humboldt district is part of the largest hog producing area in Saskatchewan.

Major communities include: Humboldt, Lanigan and Bruno

 

 


Political History: Riding is made up of the Arm River, Kelvington-Wadena, Saskatoon Southeast, and Watrous riding. The area was shared electorally by the Liberals and CCF between 1905 and 1971.
