The Ron James Show

About the Show

  • ONLINE

The uniquely Canadian, poetically charged stand-up comedy that made Ron famous is back and viewers will be laughing from coast-to-coast when THE RON JAMES SHOW returns to CBC for its fourth season.

A brand new batch of the sketches audiences have come to love are on their way, satirizing a variety of hot-button issues affecting society at large and featuring recognizable and beloved guest stars. Of course we'll also be checking in weekly with fan favourite 'L'il Ronnie,' showcasing the animated hijinks of a seven-year-old Ron James, with the little scamp's newest set of adventures taking place in 1967, Canada's centennial year.

As an added treat for many fans, Ron could very well be showing up in their hometown this year! While some of us may have a 45-minute commute, Ron's daily drive for the last 14 years has been criss-crossing the Trans-Canada Highway, 'stringing his trap-line' from Cornerbrook to Courtney Comox, observing 'people and place' as only he can.  Ron's "Ode to the Road" segments bring his Canada to Canadians as he goes on location to give a hilarious and affectionate shout-out to those who populate the lands of the 'Big Wide Open.'

Ron has always made a living 'where the rubber hits the road' and his live comedy shows consistently fill theatres across the country, winning unanimous praise from audiences and critics alike. He's been called "the funniest man in Canada" by the Victoria Times-Colonist and "devastatingly funny and clever" by the Globe and Mail. According to Ron, "I'm just trying to make sense of the daily chaos we're all walking through on this rapidly spinning planet."

True to form, this year Ron will 'find the funny' in subjects as varied as home, consumerism, power and energy, rules, competition, happiness and belonging.  Like his loyal fans around the country, the comedian is looking forward to a fourth season because, as he says, "You can't do a proper show about Canada without four seasons!"

THE RON JAMES SHOW will shoot in front of a live studio audience at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto.

Executive Producers of THE RON JAMES SHOW are Ron James and Lynn Harvey. Producer is Lynn Harvey.
