FAQ

How did the idea for the show come about?

Redemption Inc. is an original format developed by Wide Eyed Entertainment (UK), CBC and Kevin O'Leary and produced by Proper Television.

How were the participants chosen?

In consultation with people who worked with and support current and former prisoners, an open call for participants was advertised in both print and online media. Of the hundreds of applications that were received, the production staff narrowed down that number down to the ten that will appear on the program. The producers were looking for participants that had already started down a path of redemption, had entrepreneurial skills and a business idea developed to show off those skills. For more information about the selection process visit this blog post.

What support was provided to the participants during the production of the show?

Throughout the production of Redemption Inc. and during the airing of the television program, counseling support was provided for the participants. A psychotherapist was hired by the producers and consulted during pre-production and was available 24/7 to the participants during the filming of the program as well as after the filming through broadcast.

How were the exit packages offered to departing participants selected ?

The exit packages were selected to meet the long term needs of departing participants. In consultation with the participants, the exit packages were tailored to each individual. The packages were designed to allow the departing participant to continue pursuing their life and entrepreneurial goals after they had left the show. For more information about the exit packages visit this blog post.
