New wineries and new wines for 2013

Wine columnist Jeannette took a look at a few new (or almost new) interior wines and wineries. She told guest host Kathryn Marlow about them. (see below for a list)

Two new wines:

"Odie" sparkling wine from Covert Farms Family Estate (Oliver)
-around $30/bottle
-can purchase at the winery, online, and is as some restaurants in Vancouver


2011 Viognier from Wapiti Cellars (Naramata Bench)
-$30/bottle

A few new wineries:

50th Parallel Estate (Lake Country)
-61 acres, with pinot noir and aromatic whites
-bottled 2011 vintage in November last year, to release this spring
-also a 2012 Riesling


Tyler Harlton Wines (Summerland)
-First vintage 2011
-pinot gris, viognier, pinot noir, and a rosé
-Selling online, various restaurants and retailers


Upper Bench Estate Winery (Penticton)
-First vintage 2010 (reds) and 2011 (whites)
-Winery & cheese makers
-Selling online, various restaurants and retailers


Terravista Vineyards (Penticton/Naramata Bench)
-Grapes planted: Albarino and Verdejo, white grapes, Spain & Portugal
-First vintage 2010, Current vintage: 2011 "Figaro" (white blend Roussane & Viognier) and 2011 "Fandango" (blend of the Albarino and Verdejo, first vintage!)
