White moose is spotted on the Port au Port Peninsula

It's hardly the enigmatic Great White Whale, but a white moose is causing a stir on the Port au Port Peninsula. The sighting is certainly not common, but exactly how rare is it? Katherine Mell is the Senior manager of Habitat with then province's wildlife and conservation division. She's in Corner Brook. I spoke with her earlier today.

14 years cancer free

jeff eaton.JPGGeoff Eaton is today celebrating an anniversary with a difference. Foutreen years ago today Geoff Eaton was in hospital, on life support, with a two percent chance of survival. A form of leukemia was coursing through his once-robust-body The outlook was very grim.  Today, July 30th, 2013; a smiling Geoff Eaton joins host John Furlong in studio.

Tely 10 runner Florence Barron

florance.JPGThere were a couple of surprises in this year's running of the Tely Ten.  Perhaps the greatest accomplishment, though, was in the 75-79 year age women's category. Florence Barron set a new record. She won in a time of 90 minutes, 14 secs... beating the old record by nearly ONE HOUR!  Florence John in studio.
