Camp glow

Lots of people look forward to kicking back and relaxing during their summer vacation.  Not the women taking part in Stephenville's Camp Glow.  They'll be hauling fire hoses and running up and down ladders as they get a taste of what it's like to be a firefighter.  The camp is run by the Marine Institute in tandem with Women in Resource Development. Deirdre Dunne of Kippens became a firefighter after going to Camp Glow.  Krista Parsons Butler is the founder of the program.  She's also a certified firefighter. They spoke with Ramona.

Lost hikers - 5 German tourists spent the night lost on the the East Coast Trail between Bay Bulls and the Goulds.  Harry Blackmore is the team leader for the Rovers Search and Rescue.  He speaks with host Ramona Dearing.

C-sections and diabetes

Are caesarean births connected to incidences of type 1 diabetes in children?  New research suggests there could be a connection. Dr. Leigh Anne Newhook is part of the team of researchers at the Faculty of Medicine - and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information.  She speaks with host Ramona Dearing.

The Labrador Regatta

There's cause for more celebration than usual at this year's Regatta in Labrador West.  This is the fortieth Anniversary of the races. The type of boats, the race itself and many other aspects of the race may have changed over the years - but the excitement of race day remains.  Ramona Dearing speaks with The CBC's Mike Power, just as the regular heats are wrapping up.
