Radio 2 Morning - Monday to Sunday, 6 a.m. (6:30 NT)

Welcome to CBC Music's 2012 Grammy Awards live chat! We've assembled an amazing array of guests -- top music writers from some of our nation's best music publications and newspapers, CBC personalities and radio hosts, and musicians ranging from poet laureate-rappers to members of Sloan.

And you're invited too! Think of this as an online viewing party. Turn on the Grammys, grab your favourite party favours and log on here at 7:00 p.m. ET (4:00 p.m. PT). Our panel will provide the play-by-play and witty repartee, but we hope you'll post your comments and opinions of the show as well.

1,2,3,4 -- how many Juno nominations will Feist get this year?

How about Dan Mangan -- will he be singing Oh Fortune a little bit louder after the nominations are announced in Toronto Tuesday morning?

And will The Weeknd make an appearance?

Tune into our live chat at 10:30am EST as Radio 2 and Radio 3 join forces to bring you the latest from the nomination ceremony, happening at the Design Exchange in Toronto.

staceydavejian-380.jpgOnce again this Sunday, Molly thought it would be fun to spend a bit of time on her show, and on the blog, talking about books and book-related stories. It's becoming a bit of a theme for her... So, over to you, Molly!

"There are only a couple more weeks until the annual Canada Reads celebration (hosted by Jian Ghomeshi) begins so I thought we would check in with another debater.

This week I talked with Canada's quirkiest super model, Stacey McKenzie. Stacey's first big runway show was for her idol Jean Paul Gaultier. Stacey arrived on the European runways after surviving a lot of hard knocks and being rejected by many people. (Not unlike the path of a lot of Canadian musicians.)

Stacey says that despite whatever stereotypes people might have about models, a lot of them read books backstage. Many hours are spent waiting in the wings, and books are a great escape from the frenetic activity going on.

KathleenEdwards.jpgIt's been four years since Asking for Flowers... but rejoice, Kathleen Edwards fans! The new album, Voyageur, drops TODAY. And you'll hear songs from it throughout the day on Radio 2. And you can also hear Kathleen Edwards' exclusive CBC concert here.

Plus, this just in, the first video from the special studio concert Kathleen did for CBC this past weekend - check it out at the end of the post.

The album "began" in August 2010 when Kathleen wrote and recorded the song "Wapusk" at the northern Manitoba park as part of the National Parks Project.

Voyageur is a bit of a departure for Kathleen - it's co-produced with her boyfriend, Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver). She says she wanted to step away from being known as a four-chord singer songwriter, and explore more layered sounds.

prisoneroftehran.jpgMolly thought it would be fun to spend a bit of time on Sunday's show, and on the blog too, talking about books and book-related stories. (After all, Sunday is such a good day to kick back with a good read.) So, over to you, Molly!

"I'd like to start with something in our own CBC backyard: Canada Reads. You probably know of it - it's a great radio show hosted by Jian Ghomeshi from Q. Five celebrity panelists champion a book and debate its merits. Then, after four hour-long shows on Radio1 (running February 6 to 9), the winning book will be announced.

We asked each of the debaters to send along a song they love. So let's start with Arlene Dickinson, the lone women on the CBC TV show Dragon's Den.

top50artists2011logo_584x200.jpg

You have spoken. The results are in.

What a month! You started by nominating your favorite artists of 2011. On CBC R2 Facebook, on Drive's Twitter, via email, and by commenting on the blog, CBC received hundreds of requests to have artists appear on the TOP 50 list.

We looked at the nominations, and made a list of 25 Canadian and 25 International artists.
From December 5th to 19th the vote was on, and it was dramatic.

Singer-songwriter John Mann, of Spirit of the West fame, found unexpected inspiration in southern Africa.

Nestled in the lush, eucalyptus-green hills of northwest Swaziland, Bulembu is a former mining town that has literally been given a new lease on life as a refuge and symbol of hope for the country's 120,000 orphaned children.

Leonard-Cohen-Old-Ideas-Cover.jpgOn the scale of thrills, this is off the charts. A new single by Leonard Cohen, from Old Ideas, his first studio album in eight years, upcoming January 31, 2012 on Colombia Records, with Sony Music. It's an exclusive to CBC Radio 2, called "Show Me The Place."

It's just beautiful. Yes, a simple song and a sad song...but beautiful. Personally, it makes me really, really want to hear the rest of the album. How about you?

Show Me The Place by leonardcohen

Speaking of the rest of the album, here's a little more detail.
