Remembering Paul Quarrington
In the days since writer and musician Paul Quarrington passed away there have been some wonderful tributes to the hugely talented, and by all accounts hugely personable man. Saturday Night Blues marks his passing tonight with an interview Holger did with Paul Quarrington a few years back, and plays some music from his band, Porkbelly Futures.
Tributes can be a measure of the impact an artist has had on the public. But what's particularly interesting about the tributes paid to Quarrington is how they reveal what an extraordinarily diverse cat he was.
So, Hockey Night In Canada paid tribute, acknowledging Mr. Quarrington's importance in hockey; our own Tom Allen paid tribute to how engaged the man was with all who knew him; the Globe and Mail posted "videograms" from musicians and authors, including Jim Cuddy and Michael Ondaatje.
To get a sense of the scope of Paul Quarrington's work, visit the Paul Quarrington website -- it's a lovingly curated homage in itself.
