Inspring Each Other, Corb Lund And Ian Tyson

Any good teacher will tell you they learn a lot from their students. The same is sometimes true with mentors who become friends with the mentor-ee. Take Ian Tyson and Corb Lund. Tyson was Corb's mentor at the beginning of the Hurtin' Albertan's career, and they became friends.

Then Tyson damaged his voice. It seemed his career was kaput, but Lund convinced him to record some of the new songs he'd written, in his "new voice," and to perform them too.

Tonight as part of CL's Idols And Inspirations week, concerts from both gentlemen. Lund at the Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg, Tyson at Horizon Stage in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

Their story has been told as part of a CBC TV special a few years back called Alberta Bound. Here's a very short scene -- with a very funny ending.

Whoah, Pokey, whoah!
