Tune in Sundays at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One all summer long for encore broadcasts from this second season of In the Key of Charles. I hope you'll also make a special point of joining me in the living room for our final (new) episode on Labour Day weekend. You'll find a full schedule below. Bonnes vacances tout le monde! ...and remember: if you can't say it with words, say it with music.
CBC Radio One's new Sunday schedule begins 13/09/2009. Visit the CBC Programme Guide for more information.
Merci Grégory pour ces belles musiques qui nous rappellent de si beaux souvenirs! Tes émissions sont écoutées ici autant en anglais qu'en français! Aujourd'hui tout spécialement sur le thème "Never Ever". [Never Ever comments]
could not leave my radio again today. I did not go to sleep, but shed a little tear when you sang the German lullabies [...] It is wonderful, what you do to a listener. [Sleep comments]
I love how often you make me laugh out loud. [...] Every day I look forward to listening to your show on the internet. Im a 20-year-old Vancouverite currently living in Turkey. Your show connects me to home [...] as it is the show my parents listen to and love as much as I do. [Thinking comments]
I love listening to every genre of music. And so thanks, again Gregory, for bringing that to the world with grace and humour and earthiness. [Space comments]
Wow! What a great show today- I've never had so much fun listening to the radio. [...] Your show took me from Calgary right through the foothills and into the Rockies. Even when the pick-up was terrible, where I usually turn off the radio...I couldn't. [Two comments]
Love your show! I seldom get a chance to listen to it - sundays pm are teachers' witching hour i'm afraid. But you caught me dead in my tracks singing "...fields of gold"...... sent shivers up and down my back and I gave up trying to plan lessons on the English Civil War!!!! I'll try explain it to the class tomorrow. wish me luck!!! [Silver & Gold comments]
A few weeks ago I came across your show while Blossom Dearie's Tea For Two was playing. What a wonderful discovery! I really enjoy the variety of songs you share with us. I find myself becoming more open-minded to different types of music, thanks to you. [Right & Wrong comments]
It is a grey Sunday morning in Toronto and I wanted to say thank you for the light and heart that I heard on the show this morning. In particular I loved the story about the piano store and Gregory's mom...it made me cry. [Piano Man comments]
06/09/2009 : NEW EPISODE. ...the final curtain call...

Summer's here and it's time to crank up the crazy one last time before the CBC kicks into full-summer mode. Come lose your mind with me at the usual place, the piano in my living room, this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One. I've got an insane mix of music that I think you're going to love like CRAZY.
Also, this will be our final broadcast on CBC Radio 2. So I do want to take a moment to thank all of you Sunday morning regulars for being there over the past couple of years. Beginning July 5th you will be in the very capable hands of Peter Togni with Choral Concert and Bill Richardson with Sunday Afternoon in Concert. Both programmes are moving into new time-slots. You can find all the schedule details for the new Radio 2 right here.
If you happen to listen to us on Radio One, we'll be with you for the rest of the summer. You'll be able to hear episodes from this past season re-broadcast at the regular time during July and August. And we'll be back 'in the flesh' for the Labour Day weekend with one last show before I have to hand in my key.

From my living room in Montreal to you, wherever you are, this week's episode of In the Key of Charles is all about calling: music about telephone calls, roll calls, name calling and calls for help... Come calling this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.

I had so much fun last Sunday, catching popular artists with their hands in the classical music cookie jar. But that show went by way too quickly... I didn't even make it through half of the music I wanted to play. So, tune in for part 2 of Nick That Tune this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.
And a quick programme note for those of you who've been asking: the last episode of In the Key of Charles on Radio 2 will air Sunday, June 28th. (The new Radio 2 schedule comes into effect on June 29th). Repeats of In the Key of Charles will continue to air on Radio One through July and August. Labour Day weekend we'll be back for one last new episode (again, Radio One only) and then it's au revoir.

Popular artists have been raiding the classical music cupboard for years, and this weekend I want to expose a few of my favourite melody thieves. So please join me in my living room for the classics, in the key of pop, rock and jazz, this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.

Beauty can be found in all kinds of places: a mathematical proof, a face, a fleeting moment... This weekend you will also find beauty in my living room. I'll have all kinds of music in the key of beauty this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.

The good, the bad... but nothing ugly, I promise! Only the best music I can find in my eclectic record collection relating to this week's theme. Join me at the piano in my living room for The Good & The Bad in the Key of Charles, this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.
And as a special blog-only prelude to this weekend's edition, here's the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain with The Good, the Bad & the... Oh, did I say nothing ugly? Forgive me...

Life is full of falls: the embarrassing ones that end up on funny home videos, the heart-wrenching ones that leave you picking up the pieces and starting over, the unexpectedly beautiful ones that lead to love...
Music is also full of falling. It's a sensation that composers translate into sound with a plunging melodic line or a plummeting stream of chords. It's an image that lyricists use again and again when writting about something inevitable, uncontrollable, risky, irreversible...
The next episode of In the Key of Charles falls (in so many ways) this Sunday, May 17, at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 and at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One.

When the night has come and the land is dark, and the MOON is the only light we'll see: no I won't be afraid just as long as you stand by me.
Don't moon around on your own this weekend: come get lunar with me! Whether you take small steps or giant leaps just make sure you're over at my place this Sunday at 10 a.m. (10:30 a.m. NT) on CBC Radio 2 or at 9 p.m. (10 p.m. AT; 10:30 p.m. NT) on CBC Radio One. Together we'll wax and wane away the hours with all kinds of music about our nearest and dearest celestial neighbour.
