Twenty years ago Stewart Goodyear performed with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. He was 13 and it was one of his first professional gigs. Stewart Goodyear returns to appear with the MCO now, twenty years later. And this time he performs his own piano concerto, commissioned by CBC and the Canada Council.
Entitled "Eclipse", it is inspired by how the word ‘eclipse' is used to describe different examples of light temporarily overriding dark and vica versa. For example sorrow eclipsing joy, or the mind eclipsing the heart. The program opens with Mozart's charming Symphony No. 27 in G+ (K199/161) and Haydn rounds things out with his elegant Symphony No. 53 in D major, L'Imperiale'.
