The Phil Dwyer Septet is a Canadian jazz super group that came together for this unique concert held at CBC Studio One during the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
CBC Radio 2 commissioned Phil Dwyer to re-imagine some of his favorite Canadian popular songs as contemporary jazz compositions. Each song has a distinct style and flavor that takes the essence of the original and creates a framework for improvisation for members of the ensemble.
