Cuba's Carlos del Junco blows a ten-hole diatonic harmonica with towering range. He is one of very few that has learned the unique ability to play chromatically by using an "overblow" technique, taught to him by jazz virtuoso Howard Levy. His mastery of this incredibly difficult practice has allowed him the capacity to explore a broad range of ideas and styles, including blues, jazz, country, rock and gospel. del Junco has toured Canada regularly since 1996 and performs often in Germany and the United States. His sophisticated sound is at once sensitive, soulful and sexy while never leaving out the rawness inherent in the blues. You don't need to be a harp-o-holic to appreciate del Junco's adventurous explorations of the harmonica's capabilities, but if you're at all interested in how versatile the instrument can be in the hands of a master this show promises to be nothing short of awesome.
