Anne Schaefer stunned critics with her debut CD, "Twelve Easy Pieces", a few years ago. Now the singer, composer, guitarist and pianist has unveiled her next project called "The Waiting Room". The enthusiastic audience at Victoria's Alix Goolden Hall listened in to the new collection of songs dedicated to fictional personalities inhabiting Anne's imagined waiting room.
Recorded at Vancouver's infamous Penthouse Nightclub -- Coco Love Alcorn, Christa Couture and Ian Sherwood rocked the house performing both alone and together. A raucus, slightly bawdy but spirited show in front of a large, appreciative crowd.
Aggressive versus quiet. Seven versus one. It didn't seem like a very fair matchup when Vancouver's Fond of Tigers and Toronto's Sandro Perri met in CBC Ottawa's Studio 40 to meld their music. But the gentle-voiced Sandro and his subtly experimental folk proved a perfect foil to the rock-jazz improvisations of Fond of Tigers.
