Together since 2001, the Shannon Thue Trio began while all three members were attending the Jazz Studies program at Capilano College in North Vancouver. Shannon received the first ever "Jazz Award of Merit" from the CBC. The trio consists of Shannon Thue on piano, Patrick Metzger on bass and Mike Magnusson on drums.
Bill Gilday, Ray Bethke and Steve Lacey combine vocal harmonies with guitars, mandolin, fiddle, recorder, tin whistles, accordian, harmonicas, bodhran, banjo, some cello and even moose bones. The weight of that surname (think Rogers folk/roots singers) is enough to earn Nathan Rogers a preliminary buzz, but after checking out Nathan's razor-sharp brand of folk rock, it becomes obvious that he would have earned himself a name even without the famous surname. Overcoming that alone would be enough for Nathan to become a postscript, but with one foot planted firmly in folk music traditional roots and the other stepping proudly into its dynamic future - Nathan performs tunes that are filled with insight and moving with purpose.
