The Radio 2 Morning Grilled Cheese Invitational: Results Today!

And the winner is... cheese lovers everywhere!
Okay, so maybe it wasn't so much an "invitational," seeing as the contest started by y'all inviting yourselves into it. But when listeners heard Tom talking about the official "Grilled Cheese Invitational" (so official that it's held in a loft in L.A....) you started sending in your own recipes...
Well, that trickle of cheesy suggestions became a big old parmesan avalanche. And now here we are today, proud to present the results of the (obviously much more delicious and definitive) Radio 2 Morning Grilled Cheese Invitational!
We couldn't believe the amount of care taken with the more than 100 entries you sent in-- we know it takes a lot of time to write those things out... so, thank you!
But somehow we managed to put aside our affection for your ingredients and whittle down the list of competing sandwiches.
From there, it wasn't too difficult to convince food goddess Bonnie Stern into the Radio 2 Morning studio to prepare and test the gooey delights. And Toronto's favourite ivory-tickler Michael Kaeshammer ? All he had to do was offer his tastebuds. Sounds like the best gig he's had... and he's played Trafalgar Square in London.
So, which Grilled Cheese is the Big Cheese? Tune in to Radio 2 Morning today between 9 and 10 a.m. to find out!
(And if you still wanted to get your two cheddar-y cents in, we wouldn't be opposed to you leaving even more Grilled Cheese tips in the comment section below...)
UPDATE: Now that the results have aired all over the country... here are the results for those of you who missed the taste-off:
The winning recipe:
- A nice sourdough bread or some other kind of firm artisan bread
- Cheddar AND havarti cheese
- Thinly sliced red-skinned apple

Runner-up:

- Grate or thinly slice a good quality 2-year-old (or more) white cheddar onto the bread
