Campbell River, B.C. teacher Natalie Raedwulf and student Tabatha Wyatt think Harry Potter fans will love the Canadian book Shadows Cast by Stars by Catherine Knutsson. Here's why:

Tabatha says: "Shadows Cast by Stars is a story about a young girl named Cassandra who struggles with her identity and growing up too fast. She starts to learn that she has abilities that nobody else has around her. In the story, we go on her adventure of her learning about herself and the things around her. It also takes place in B.C. and the Vancouver area 200 years from now. It's a very magical journey."

Natalie says: "Tabatha and I both love this book because it's steeped in local Indigenous traditions and folklore. It's a great young adult book. It should be right up there with Harry Potter and all the others. We usually have to import books from other lands and we have one that's right in our own backyard."
