Your bed is listening to you while you sleep
The cold, dark winter makes many of us feel tired and sluggish, like you just want to sleep your way to spring. Unless you're one of the 3-million Canadians who have trouble sleeping.
So it's no surprise there's a rise in popularity of tracking devices like Fitbit, Jawbone, or the Basis Peak which monitor sleep as well as activity. And recently we heard about Luna, a mattress cover filled with internet-connected sensors that collect heart-rate data while you sleep. There's even a built-in microphone to listen to your breathing.
Stuart Fogel is the Director of the Brain & Mind Sleep Research Laboratory at Western University. We get his take on this increasing trend toward collecting and interpreting our own sleep data.
