Listeners say thanks and share their memories of DNTO

When we announced to listeners that DNTO was wrapping up — after 22 years on the air! — the tweets, emails, messages and phone calls started pouring in.
Like this call from Olympian and regular DNTO guest Clara Hughes.
As well, listeners from coast-to-coast left messages on our listener line to say thank you.
The tweets were humbling to read:
Wow. Thank you, @TeamDNTO for nurturing our country's storytelling traditions. Excited for the next step, @sookyinlee! #goodbyeDNTO

@TeamDNTO DNTO has accompanied me on many solo, long distance drives around small town BC & MB - like an old friend I could always rely on.

.@TeamDNTO So sorry to hear. Have enjoyed many of your shows. Remember vividly the one about the Somali man who swam the river to Canada.

😔My love of pop culture, radio + storytelling all comes from @TeamDNTO. It was a podcast before there were podcasts. https://t.co/Q5lBBj5wYH

DNTO was always a crazy important radio show and one of the first shows my teen brain thought was actually cool. I'll miss it, and miss them

Some folks sent us emails:
"I wanted to say that I've enjoyed years of listening to your program, so many moments where I've delayed leaving the house to continue listening to your show, or delayed leaving the car to continue listening to your show. Wish you all the best. :)"
-Wendy, Dartmouth, N.S.
"Thank you Sook-Yin; it was awesome to hear a woman my age just be herself and bring her heart and humour to her work; also to the team, we enjoyed your show during many weekend drives."
-Nadine, Victoria
"Just heard with great sadness that your show will be ending... can't tell you how many times you made my trips through stressful traffic so much more enjoyable with your wonderfully entertaining programming. We will dearly miss looking for to the treasures you offered us every week."
-Glen, Surrey, B.C.
"I want to thank you for all of the stories. The first time I heard you I was going into a garden shop and had just parked the car. You were talking about your mom. I sat in the parking lot listening and crying through the whole show as your mom is my mom. I was so grateful that you were brave enough to talk about the struggles you went through as a daughter. It gave me strength. May the future be good!"
-Barbara, Coquitlam, B.C.
To all of our listeners, fans and contributors: thank you for sharing your stories — and thank you for listening. Stay tuned!
