Perhaps the last great astronomical discovery left is the detection of the elusive gravity wave. Einstein predicted these waves in his theory of gravitation, but because their influence is so weak, they have yet to be directly observed. Gravity waves propagate as a ripple in space-time, momentarily changing the shape of objects as they pass through them.
