  • kept 99 per cent of riding; 0.09 per cent moved to Johnson and 0.01 per cent to Orford.
  • gained 11 per cent of Saint-François and two per cent of Orford.
  • lost to Johnson a small area from north with 43 electors.
  • lost to Orford a small area with five electors.
  • gained, in south, from Saint-François, that part of Ascot that had been in the riding (4,452 electors).
  • gained, in south, from Orford, the part of Ascot included in the riding and part of Rock Forest (1,340 electors).

    LIB CHAREST defeated PQ MALAVOY by 2,520 votes. CHAREST was sworn in as premier on April 29, 2003.

    1998 LIB JEAN CHAREST defeated PQ MALAVOY by 907 votes. Charest had become Quebec Liberal leader on April 30, 1998.
    1994 PQ MARIE MALAVOY defeated LIB GILLES LAPOINTE by 1,391 votes. Appointed minister of culture and communications, minister responsible for application of French Language Charter, Sept. 26, 1994. Resigned after it became public that she had voted in previous elections before she became a Canadian citizen.
