Outremont riding contains that part of bounded by: the boundary of the borough of Outremont with the towns of Montreal, Mount-Royal and the CP railway line, the extension of the avenue de l'Esplanade, such way, Fairmount Avenue West, de l'Esplanade Avenue, Mont-Royal Ouest Avenue, the voie Camillien-Houde, Chemin Remembrance, Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, the boundary of the towns of Montreal and Westmount, Chemin de la Côte-Saint-Luc, Décarie autoroute (15) and Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine. It also contains borough 5 of the city of Sherbrooke.

Riding first existed in 1966 election.

1995 REF: NO - 65.61 per cent YES - 34.39 per cent

Redistribution:
Riding created in 1965 from part of Montreal-Outremont.

In redistribution before 1989 election, kept all old riding and added 5.26 per cent WESTMOUNT.

In 1992 redistribution, lost part of riding to MONT-ROYAL and gained areas from MERCIER and WESTMOUNT ridings.

LIB RAYMOND BACHAND defeated PQ FAROUK KARIM by 1,930 votes.

2003 LIB YVES SÉGUIN defeated PQ MARILYSE LAPIERRE by 6,057 votes. Appointed minister of finance. Séguin resigned on May 9, 2005.
1998 LIB LAPORTE defeated PQ JEAN-FRAN&3199;OIS THUOT by 8,172 votes.
June 10, 1996 byelection LIB PIERRE-ÉTIENNE LAPORTE defeated PQ ARMAND ELBAZ.
1994 LIB TREMBLAY defeated PQ SALOMON COHEN by 9,528 votes. On March 14, 1996, he announced he was returning to the private sector; said he was not happy with federalist strategy in referendum.
1989 LIB GERALD TREMBLAY defeated PQ MARC LANGEVIN by 2,964 votes. Appointed minister of industry, trade and technology, October 1989; minister of industry, trade, science and technology, Jan. 11, 1994.
Byelection on Nov. 17, 1980 LIB PIERRE FORTIER defeated PQ NICOLE BOILY. LIB FORTIER was re-elected in 1981 and 1985. Appointed minister responsible for privatization, Dec. 12, 1985; minister responsible for finances and for privatization, August 1986.
1976 LIB ANDRE RAYNAULD defeated PQ PIERRE HARVEY by 2,387 votes. NOW PNP CHOQUETTE was third with 14.2 per cent of the vote. Choquette quit PNP in March 1977; rejoined Liberals on Jan. 16, 1978. Raynauld resigned on June 3, 1980.
1973 LIB JEROME CHOQUETTE won in 1966, 1970 and 1973. Minister of Financial Institutions, companies and co-operatives, May to October 1970; minister of justice, May 1970 to July 1975; minister of education, July to September 1975. Resigned on Sept. 26, 1975; Dec. 14, 1975 - founded with Fabien Roy, le Parti national populaire. Became leader Oct. 24, 1976.
