4/10/03 3:39PM I would just like to say that I am headed for a vote for Jean Charest without a doubt. My father recently passed away at the hands of the PQ government. The poor man who worked all his life and paid taxes to this province all his life (81 years) was not even afforded palliative care in his dying days. He had cancer for which he was being treated with chemo[therapy] treatments which devastated him and when he became so sick that my Mom could not properly take care of him, he was stuck in the emergency ward of the hospital and, at one particular time, for four days. The poor emergency [room] workers had no choice but to send him back home each time to suffer at home. It was absolutely terrible and only on his last week was the hospital able to find him a bed in their palliative care unit where he received such gentle tender loving care that I can only find relief in knowing his last days were peaceful. I myself recently had breast surgery and was shipped home the same day whereas before the PQ came into power the hospitals at least kept you a few days during the critical stages of recovery. Not that being home was so terrible but it is the on the spot after surgery care that is so important during the first few days of recovery. This, all during the time when Bernard Landry has increased his cabinet; spends all kinds of money sending his cabinet over to France to be wined and dined; borrows $3 million so that he can appear to fulfill his electoral promises to get re-elected and brags of this province's finances when he has a complete failure as finance minister whose track record in education and santé leaves alot to be desired.
