Off NE Montreal Island.  Rapid growth. Francophone low to middle income, home owners.

Terrebonne riding contains that part of the town of Terrebonne corresponding to the towns of Terrebonne and Lachenaie as they existed up until June 26, 2001.


Redistribution:
In redistribution before 1989 election, large part moved to Masson. 46.38% of Terrebonne remained; added 17% Groulx and 11.86% Rousseau.

In 1992 redistribution, lost large part of riding to new Blainville riding and gained part of Masson.

Only change in 2001 redistribution was that a small area from the western part of riding, with no electors, moved to Masson.

  • LIB DENIS HARDY defeated PQ GUY MERCIER in 1970 and 1973. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Nov 1973; Minister of Communications, 1975-76.

  • In 1976, PQ ELIE FALLU defeated LIB HARDY. Faillu ran in Groulx in 1981.

  • PQ YVES BLAIS won in 1981 and 1985. Blais ran in Masson in 1989.

  • In 1989, PQ JOCELYNE CARON defeated LIB MARCEL LORRAIN by 2,940 votes.

  • In 1994, PQ CARON defeated LIB DANYELLE BYLES by 11,444 votes. Appointed Chief Government Whip (first woman ever in Quebec to be appointed Whip, Aug. 25, 1997.
