This new riding was created in 2001 redistribution from: 33% SALABERRY-SOULANGES; 28% VAUDREUIL; from Salaberry-Soulanges - that part of the riding which was west of the St. Lawrence River and includes: Coteau-du-Lac, Les Cèdres, Les Coteaux, Pointe-des-Cascades, Rivière-Beaudette, Saint-Clet, Saint-Polycarpe, Saint-Télesphore, Saint-Zotique (17,483 electors) from what was western part of Vaudreuil - area including Pointe-Fortune, Rigaud, Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, Sainte-Marthe, Saint-Lazare and Très-Saint-Rédempteur (15,862 electors)

LIB SERGE MARCIL, incumbent from Beauharnois, won in 1989. Appointed Minister of Employment, Jan. 11, 1994.

In 1994, PQ SERGE DESLIERES defeated LIB MARCIL.

In 1998, PQ DESLIERES defeated LIB MARIE-ANDRÉE McSWEEN by 6,656 votes.

VAUDREUIL

LIB DANIEL JOHNSON won in 1989 and 1994. Johnson announced his resignation on March 2, 1998.

In 1998, LIB YVON MARCOUX defeated PQ YVON FAILLE by 6,711 votes.
