Appointed Minister of Culture and Communications, Minister responsible for Application of French Language Charter, Sept. 26, 1994 - Resigned after it became public that she had voted in previous elections, before she became a Canadian citizen.
In 1998, LIB JEAN CHAREST defeated PQ MALAVOY by 907 votes. Charest had become Quebec Liberal Leader on April 30, 1998.
