Redistribution:
No change in redistribution before 1989 and 1994 elections.

Only minor change in 2001 redistribution - gained small area with no electors from Nicolet-Yamaska.

  • LIB CLAUDE SIMARD won in 1970 and 1973. Minister of State for Industry and Commerce, 1970-72; Minister of State for Tourism, Fish and Game, Feb-Oct 1972; Minister of Tourism, Fish and Game, Oct. 1972-1976

  • NOW PQ MAURICE MARTEL (joined PQ in 1975) won in 1976 and 1981. Appointed Minister of Revenue in December 1984.

  • In 1985, LIB ALBERT KHELFA defeated PQ MARTEL by 3,047 votes.

  • In 1989, LIB ALBERT KHELFA defeated PQ GUY SAVARD by 3,288 votes.

  • In 1994, PQ SYLVAIN SIMARD defeated LIB incumbent KHELFA by 4,745 votes. Minister of International Relations, Minister responsible for relations with French-speaking Communities and Minister responsible for Outaouais region, Jan 29/96 to Dec 15/98; Minister responsible for Humanitarian Action, Jan. 22, 1997 to Dec. 15, 1998.
