Nelligan riding contains that part of Montreal bounded as follows: the boundary of the cities of Montreal and Laval, the rivière des Prairies, extension of des Sources Boulevard, Pierrefonds Boulevard, Saint-Jean Boulevard, the boundary of the towns of Pierrefonds and Dollard-des-Ormeaux, the boundary of the city of Kirkland with the towns of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Pointe-Claire, Hymus Boulevard and Saint-Charles Boulevard, Chemin Sainte-Marie, Félix-Leclerc Autoroute(40), the boundary of the towns of Kirkland and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the boundary of the city of Pierrefonds with the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the boundary of the town of Senneville with the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the baie de Vaudreuil and lac des Deux Montagnes.

Redistribution:
Riding created in 1980 from parts of Pointe-Claire and Robert-Baldwin. After redistribution before 1989 election, riding was 71.31% NELLIGAN and 21.68% ROBERT-BALDWIN. 12,220 electors moved to Jacques-Cartier.

In 1992 redistribution, lost area from NE to Robert-Baldwin.

In 2001 redistribution:

  • kept 80% of riding; 20% moved to Jean-Lesage;

  • lost to Jacques-Cartier: Baie-d Urfé and Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and two parts of the town of Kirkland bounded as follows: a)Félix-Leclerc Autoroute, Chemin Sainte-Marie and border of Kirkland and Beaconsfield; b) Chemin Sainte-Marie, Saint-Charles Boulevard, Hymus Boulevard and border of Kirkland with Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield (12,388 electors)

    Political History:

  • LIB CLIFFORD LINCOLN won in 1981 and 1985.  Appointed Minister of the  Environment, Dec. 12, 1985. Resigned his portfolio on Dec 21, 1988 because of Bill 178.

  • In 1989, LIB RUSSELL WILLIAMS defeated EP JEAN-PIERRE ISORE by 6,035. Williams appointed Minister responsible for Anglophone community, Jan 1994.

  • In 1994, LIB WILLIAMS defeated PQ DENISE CYPIHOT by 25,794 votes.

  • In 1998, LIB WILLIAMS defeated PQ ANDRÉ TREMBLAY by 28,206 votes.
